
Kimberly Hawthorne, MS
Kimberly Hawthorne, M.S., (she/her), is a doctoral practicum student passionate about the
restorative power of strengths-based approaches, feminist and womanist theory, and liberatory
practices that center equity, community-building, and social justice. She is especially committed
to addressing mental health concerns affecting minority young adult women (ages 18–35),
adolescent girls, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Kimberly is currently a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at Our Lady of
the Lake University (OLLU), where she is trained in strength-based, post-constructivist
practices. Her clinical interests include psychological assessment, college mental health, post-
traumatic growth following developmental trauma, female anger expression, and identity
development. She has worked with students through San Antonio College’s Student Advocacy
Center and with children and adolescents at the Bexar County Family Justice Center and OLLU’s
Community Counseling Service. Her clinical experience spans work with individuals ages 5 to
60+ from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with a focus on cultivating
socio-emotional awareness, core values, and self-efficacy to support healing and goal
achievement.
Kimberly is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, an HBCU in Atlanta, GA, a first-generation
Jamaican American, and the proud daughter of a 30-year US Army veteran.
