Danielle Canto, MA, School Psychologist
Hello, I’m Danielle, a Marriage and Family Therapy student at Our Lady of the Lake University.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating chronic pain, persistent physical symptoms, and complex medical concerns, offering care that recognizes the deep connection between physical health and emotional well-being. With strong ties to the physical therapy and rehabilitation world, I bring a collaborative, body-informed perspective to therapy and value helping clients feel understood beyond their diagnoses.
I have a knack for creating a space that honors the emotional, relational, and practical realities of living with ongoing medical concerns. As an avid strength trainer and athlete, I understand the importance of movement, resilience, identity, and adapting to the body through different stages of health and recovery.
I also enjoy working with couples, supporting women through empowerment-focused therapy, and helping individuals navigate identity transitions and life changes with greater confidence and self-understanding. Whether someone is adjusting to changes in health, relationships, career, family roles, or sense of self, I strive to provide a supportive and affirming space for growth.
My background as a former school psychologist sharpened my ability to sit with complex presentations, identify meaningful accommodations and supports, and connect individuals and families with valuable resources. Combined with my ongoing master’s training in marriage and family therapy, I approach treatment through a systemic lens—considering the roles that relationships, family dynamics, healthcare systems, work, and environment all play in a person’s well-being.
My approach emphasizes whole-person mental health care that is compassionate, collaborative, and deeply individualized.
